Commercial Buildings

Owners of commercial buildings lean towards restoration to take advantage of tax benefits, as well as the fact that restoration can be more cost effective than new windows. Restoration is always the best option for maintaining the character of the building. Restoration can also be less intrusive to tenants than wholesale replacement.

Commercial Window Repair - FAQ:

  • Should I repair or replace? Please be aware, we are terribly biased on this subject, but you might want to look here: Restore vs. Replace
  • What does a repaired window look like? Picture Picture2 - Notice that there are numerous carpentry scars (sanding/scraping/planing). This window works wonderfully again, but is aching for the painter to arrive!
  • What should I do to prepare? Great question! Look here for our 'Tips for Success' list.
  • Do you paint? No, I am sorry. You should think of us as carpenters and mechanics of old windows, and not painters.
  • Do you replace all glazing putty? We are great at glazing windows, but traditionally this job is performed by the painter's apprentice at a much lower cost.
  • Who will you work for? We work best with building owners and their agents or property managers. If you are a general contractor, please understand that the only times (2) that we have ever had difficulty getting paid was when gc's got in trouble with ownership for reasons unrelated to us. We still occasionally work as a sub, but not often.

Your team did a great job, when they repaired 70 original, double hung windows in my historical home built in 1930. They were well trained, professional and quick.
