Home Window Repair

Private Residential Buildings

Commercial BuildingsPrivate homes make up the vast majority of our customers. Large and small, we fix all sorts of houses. We like to talk about the spectacular homes we have been in, but in fact most of our residential customers own ordinary suburban homes, not glamorous landmarks. The average customer has us fix around 10 windows and pays roughly $350 per. Our minimum quantity for a regularly calendared job is 3-4 windows (depending upon distance from our shop), but don't worry if you only have one troublesome window, we will find a spot for you somewhere on our 'stand-by' list. We have half-days and cancellations from time to time so it always works out.

Owners of historic homes enjoy the historic glass, the frequently old growth and virgin timber of their home’s windows. When they also factor in the comparatively short lifespan of modern manufactured windows, many homeowners choose window restoration over replacement. Incentive programs like the Mills Act also help lower the cost of window restoration in qualified historic buildings.

Residential Window Repair - FAQ:

  • Should I repair or replace? Please be aware, we are terribly biased on this subject, but you might want to look here: Restore vs. Replace
  • What does a repaired window look like? Picture Picture2 - Notice that there are numerous carpentry scars (sanding/scraping/planing). This window works wonderfully again, but is aching for the painter to arrive!
  • What should I do to prepare? Great question! Look here for our 'Tips for Success' list.
  • Do you paint? No, I am sorry. You should think of us as carpenters and mechanics of old windows, and not painters.
  • Do you replace all glazing putty? We are great at glazing windows, but traditionally this job is performed by the painter's apprentice at a much lower cost.

Your team did a great job, when they repaired 70 original, double hung windows in my historical home built in 1930. They were well trained, professional and quick.
